Wonder Wheel is a tabletop kinetic model of a tracked ferris wheel, inspired by real life attractions such as Wonder Wheel at Coney Island and Mickey's Fun Wheel at Disney's California Adventure. The model features eight pink 'stationary' cars, which are attached to an axle, as well as eight blue & purple motion-capable cars, which travel along tracks within the hub as the wheel spins.
I modeled all parts using SolidWorks and 3D printed them in the university workshop, as well as my personal 3D printer.  The model was designed to use no hardware, so it is fully printed and mostly assembled using tab and slot construction. The model's movement is controlled by a simple hand crank, which drives a gear system attached to the main hub. The stationary and tracked cars within the hub are all gravity driven.
A short video of the model in motion.
